Elections 2025 to the Organizing Committee (OC)
We are pleased to announce that Dr. Bart van de Sluis has been appointed as Treasurer-Elect of the ELC Organizing Committee.
One position on the Organizing Committee was initially expected to become vacant for the 2026–2030 term, as Dr. van de Sluis was due to conclude his mandate on 31 December 2025.
However, with his appointment as Treasurer-Elect, Dr. van de Sluis will continue to serve on the Committee in this new capacity.
In accordance with the ELC statutes, the Treasurer-Elect must be appointed by the Organising Committee and shall be selected from among its current members.
As Treasurer-Elect, Dr. van de Sluis will collaborate closely with the current Treasurer, Dr. Nicola Ferri, throughout 2026 before officially assuming the Treasurer role for the 2027–2031 term.
Warm congratulations to Dr. Bart van de Sluis on this new appointment.
As a result, no election will be held for his Organizing Committee seat in 2025.
Election Procedures
Call for nominations
ELC members are invited to nominate candidates for the Organizing Committee.
The nominations will be reviewed by the Organizing Committee, who will select from them the candidates to stand for election, based on:
(a) the nominee’s qualifications and suitability for the position
(b) geographical spread of candidates and existing OC members
(c) gender balance

| August | Shortlisted candidates on ELC website. |
| September | ELC members may vote (ballot elections will be held at the annual meeting). |
| September/October | The result of the voting is announced on the ELC website. |

Organizing Committee members’ responsibilities are:
- Deciding the criteria on which the scientific contributions to the meeting are selected.
- Selection of scientific contributions to the annual meeting.
- Practical arrangements for the scientific meeting.
- Fundraising to run the scientific meeting.
